Casino Development/Redevelopment Project

Key Engineering Group, LTD. assisted the Forest County Potawatomi Community of Wisconsin redevelop multiple former industrial properties in the Menomonee River Valley. The development project was located within an area of "industrial-type" fill, generally consisting of foundry sand, slag and other solid waste.
PHASE I AND II ESAS

- Performed environmental assessments on acquired properties, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Identified strategies for previously known environmental issues prior to property acquisition.
- Inspected buildings for asbestos prior to property acquisition and demolition.
PRE-CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
- Performed a methane gas investigation.
- Characterized landfill waste to be generated during construction to evaluate disposal options.
- Prepared a non-point source air permit based on projected traffic patterns and successfully obtained the air permit from the WDNR. KEY also evaluated the need to obtain a point-source air permit.
- Prepared a request for an exemption to develop on a landfill and successfully negotiated the exemption with the WDNR.
- Coordinated the abatement of asbestos prior to building demolition.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
- Obtained a permit from the regional sewerage district to discharge water generated during excavation dewatering.
- Coordinated the removal of an underground storage tank encountered during construction activities.
