United States/Canada Border Station
Wetlands/Geotechnical Engineering/National Environmental Policy Act/Property Acquisition

KEY is the lead environmental engineer for a $33 million dollar United States Border crossing construction.

WETLANDS
  • Delineation of approximately 100-acres of wetland.
  • Assistance with mitigation and purchase of wetland banking credits
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING
  • Advanced over 42-borings both on solid ground and swampland.
  • Borings were used to evaluate facility placement by either infilling swampland, or constructing a secured corridor from the border to high ground approximately one mile south of the border.
NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT
  • Performed an Environmental Assessment in accordance with General Service Administration (GSA) guidelines.
PROPERTY ACQUISITION
  • Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment was performed on a one-mile corridor and three residential properties.
  • Acquisition included evaluation of contamination associated with outdoor firing range.

KEY is currently working with the GSA on other issues such as surveying, potable well placement and septic system requirements.
